Jordan Hannah, Counsellor

Hi, I’m Jordan, a passionate counsellor who has always found joy in helping others and allowing clients to be their own guide in their therapy journey. My day job as a probation officer has given me the opportunity to work with many different clients and has influenced a passion for further education in counselling. My experiences in the community have also opened my eyes to the lack of services within the Miramichi area and the need for passionate individuals who are driven to help others. My education consists of a Bachelor of Arts with a Major in Psychology, obtained from the University of New Brunswick and a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University. I am also a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and a candidate for counselling certification through this Association.

I was born and raised in Miramichi, NB, and am excited to start my private practice as a counsellor in my hometown. I always strive to uphold an inviting, non-judgemental atmosphere, focusing on a client centred approach to therapy. The main areas I have experience in are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, exploring one’s thoughts and belief systems and how they influence our behaviours. I am very experienced in solution focused therapy, as often when I work with clients in my field, I focus on helping them obtain their goals by exploring their needs and strengths, creating a plan of action, and providing them with further information, such as directing them to other helpful services within the community to optimize their success. My eye opening experiences volunteering for the Sexual Assault Centre for Women throughout my years of education in Fredericton, NB helped mould my skills to assist people facing situations of crisis and trauma. I aspire to bring these skills to my role in the counselling relationship as I support and guide clients in a calm and supportive manner while also acting as an advocate for their mental health.

My goal as a counsellor is to provide clients with new skills and tools and I am confident that after therapy, you will be capable of applying these strategies in your everyday life, which will optimize your well-being and mental health. Please join me in my practice as we strive to meet your goals in a calm, non-judgemental surrounding, in hopes of elevating your physical, mental, emotional well-being.
