Jill Connors, Counselling Intern
Hi there! My name is Jill, and I am booking clients for May, 2021
I have a Bachelor of Science (Major in Psychology) degree from Mount Allison University, as well as a diploma in Addictions Community Outreach from Nova Scotia Community College. Most recently, I have completed the course components of the Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University.
I have planted roots in Miramichi over the past six years, and am happy to be raising my family in such a resilient community. I am looking forward to gaining counselling experience through my practicum, and continuing to provide services here in our community.
My background has provided me with understanding of common challenges individuals deal with, including anxiety, depression, stress, substance use, gambling problems, low self-esteem, and maintaining healthy relationships. I have developed counselling knowledge and skills to offer you Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. On a professional level, I receive regular clinical supervision to ensure you are being provided optimal care and support.
Whatever it is that you are working through, you do not have to go through it alone. I will work with you to understand your perspective, strengths, and values, while empowering you to achieve your goals. I value holistic approaches to counselling that take into account your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and environmental well being. I will meet you where you are and support you in making steps toward change. Whether you have experienced a number of difficulties over time, or a sudden difficult experience, I will provide you with a safe space to explore what is important to you.
