Jill Connors (L.C.T-C, C.C.C)

Licensed Counselling Therapist-Candidate

Canadian Certified Counsellor

Hi there!

I have completed my Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University in May 2021. I also hold a Bachelor of Science (Major in Psychology) degree from Mount Allison University, as well as a diploma in Addictions Community Outreach from Nova Scotia Community College.

I have been calling Miramichi home since 2014, and am grateful to be raising my family in this resilient community. I balance my work as a counsellor by enjoying the outdoors, meditating, reading, playing board games/video games, and spending time with family and friends. On a professional level, I receive regular clinical supervision to ensure you are being provided optimal care and support.

In working together, I aim to provide a calming environment and a safe relationship to explore what is important to you. We can work together to identify areas for your own growth, and create steps to support your journey.

My experiences to present have involved working with clients experiencing: anxiety, depression/low mood, self-harming behaviors, suicidal thoughts, childhood trauma, grief and loss, gender dysphoria, & relationship issues. While I invite anyone interested in working together to reach out, I have found a special interest in working with:

  • Individuals who are seeking to better understand themselves and break patterns that are no longer serving them well
  • Students who are wanting to overcome procrastination and lead a more balanced lifestyle
  • Individuals who are experiencing anxiety and want to learn new ways to approach it
  • And individuals who feel ready to make changes in their life, but aren’t sure where to start

My approach to counselling focuses on identifying and building upon your strengths. I incorporate skills from a variety of approaches to meet your unique needs, including mindfulness, self-compassion, and strengthening your mind-body connection.

I have developed counselling skills to offer you:

  • Person Centered Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (Level 2 APT-Accreditation)
  • Solution-Focussed Brief Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Counselling can be a place for you to deepen your understanding of yourself, your experiences and relationships. It can be very challenging but a rewarding experience for many. To learn more, please contact me by e-mail at counselling.jillconnors@gmail.com!
